Heinz Alfredo Fernandez works as an Academic Advisor/Coach at Florida Atlantic University, where he oversees the Deciding/Exploratory majors. He also works as one of the First-Generation Academic Advisors for the institution, helping students navigate the collegiate experience. Heinz also co-oversees the Undocu-Ally Initiative at FAU, providing specialized advising and resources to students who identify as undocumented/DACA/Dreamers. Heinz is also the chair for the Owls Unidos En Excelencia program, which is designed to provide specialized advising and resources to students who identify as Hispanic/Latina/o/x. Heinz is a First Generation student of Cuban descent, and is currently a doctoral student in the Higher Education Leadership program at Florida Atlantic University.
